Robert Murillo

I love being a teacher because there is no greater joy than sharing the love of music with others and making music together.

Robert Murillo joined the CtRCS faculty in the 2024-25 school year as Music Teacher. Robert is a Music EC-12 Certified Educator, holding a bachelor's degree from The University of St. Thomas (2011) and a master's degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University. 

Robert's teaching career spans 13 years in public, private, and Catholic schools, with experience teaching private music lessons and leading children's ensembles in Stafford MSD, Fort Worth Diocese, Irving ISD, Del Valle ISD, and the Diocese of Austin. Most recently, Robert served as parish music director in Austin, where he led choirs, spearheaded an expansive music stewardship program, and facilitated a new organ installation. 

Robert was a member of the group “Voices of Fort Worth,” a soloist for the 2022 NPM Peter Kolar Composer Series Concert, and a chorister in the Chamber Choir for the 2024 Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston 2nd Annual Sacred Music Festival. He has also served in multiple Catholic Church music ministries. 

As a researcher and writer, he produced several educational documents, including the “Two Hand Piano: Preschool Suzuki Piano Curriculum” for RBR Muzik in Irving, as well as his graduate research project, “The 21st Century Digital Music Curriculum,” which was published in the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association Online Journal. Additionally, he manages his own music company and lessons studio, The Robert Murillo Private Studio, where he has led recording and media production projects, provided music instruction to families and collaborated with several music companies across the state.

Robert led the 2022-23 St. Anthony Marie de Claret Music Ministry Stewardship Initiative, which successfully raised over $18,000 in parishioner and community donations. In 2020-21, he was awarded the Advancing Our Mission Diocese of Austin Grant in recognition of his efforts. His academic achievements include being selected to present his graduate research at the 2017 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention College Poster Session, with his work later published in the TMEA Online Journal. Additionally, Robert was the recipient of a Graduate Assistantship Full Scholarship from the Music Department of Texas Christian University, further showcasing his commitment to advancing his music career.

Robert and his wife, Megan, have been married 12 years. In his free time, Robert enjoys gardening, reading, and playing with his dogs.
