“I always knew that I wanted a career working with children. The first time that I stepped into a classroom to teach I knew that is where God was calling me to be. I have taught at Catholic schools since 2009 and I feel so privileged to not only help students grow academically, but also spiritually.”
Michelle Matlock loves being able to grow with the school at her parish. She has a passion for teaching reading and writing and enjoys implementing reading and writing workshop in her classroom.
Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in psychology from Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) in 2009. While at LSUS, she was a standout in soccer as the Team Captain of the LSUS Women’s Soccer Team and received All-Conference accolades every year from 2005-2008. She also made the All-Louisiana Team in 2006. While she was an all-star on the field, she was also on the LSUS Dean’s List. She received her teaching certification from LSUS in 2012. She is currently working toward earning her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from LSUS.
She has been at CtRCS since 2016. As the Instructional Specialist for the school, Michelle is the liaison between the school and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston for curriculum and instruction. In addition, she is the lead to oversee the work of the religion, math, and ELA professional learning communities, which focus on vertical alignment of the CtRCS curriculum. She is also an
"ACET" teacher with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Michelle currently lives in Cypress with her husband, Connor, and their six children: Caleb, Hannah, Noah, Mara, Meredith, and Baby Matlock. Michelle enjoys playing all sports, working out, traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
