“I just love inspiring children to be creative and to see them enjoy the process. That moment when they discover what they can create, their feeling of accomplishment, pride and excitement is priceless!”
Marcela Flores has always liked making a difference in kids’ lives. A parishioner at Christ the Redeemer, she likes the Catholic Christian school environment and looks forward to another year at CtRCS.
Marcela grew up in Mexico. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1992. While working as a graphic designer in Mexico, she realized her university was offering a program to be a bilingual teacher with a certification program through University of St. Thomas in Houston. She saw this as a great opportunity and was certified in bilingual and early childhood education in 1998.
After moving to Houston in 2001, she worked as a freelance graphic designer while teaching at various schools including St. Cuthbert Episcopal School and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. Before teaching art at CtRCS, Marcela was the art teacher at Cy-Fair Music and Arts. Marcela is also the owner of I Love Art Studio in Cypress where she teaches art classes for kids.
Marcela lives in Cypress with her daughter, who is in high school, and their two mini schnauzers. Besides art and painting, Marcela enjoys photography, traveling and playing tennis.
