“It is simple, teaching young children brings me joy! Every day is different, unpredictable and fun. To know that I have had some small part at the beginning of a child's educational journey is so gratifying.”
Mrs. Hecker was born in Temple, Texas, but spent most of her childhood in Leavenworth, KS. In Kansas, she was crowned Kansas Junior Miss and received a full scholarship to the University of South Alabama. After receiving her degree in psychology, she worked with children, adolescents, and adults in Alabama, California, and Texas.
After having children of her own, Mrs. Hecker’s career in mental health eventually led her to work with children in an academic setting.
She began her teaching career in 2001 as a lead teacher at Prince of Peace Catholic Community’s Blessed Beginnings Preschool where she worked for 13 years. She moved on to teach kindergarten at St. Anne Catholic school in Tomball. Although she is certified to teach EC-6th grade, her heart belongs to Pre-K and this is her 10th year teaching Pre-K 4 at CtRCS.
Mrs. Hecker currently lives in Cypress (Bridgeland) with her husband of 38 yrs. and their Labrador retriever, Koda. They have two adult children with careers in business, and a daughter-in-law who is also a teacher. Although she is yet to be a grandmother, she has 4 wonderful granddoggies.
When not teaching, Mrs. Hecker enjoys spending time in her mountain summer home in Highlands, NC. She loves hiking, reading, and attending theater performances.
