“It is simple, teaching young children brings me joy! Every day is different, unpredictable and fun. To know that I have had some small part at the beginning of their educational journey is so gratifying.”
With a degree in psychology, Linda Hecker’s career in mental health eventually led her to work with children. When she became a mother and was involved in her children’s school activities, she felt it was a natural transition to teach.
Linda was born in Temple, Texas, but spent most of her childhood in Leavenworth, Kan. In Kansas, she was crowned Kansas Junior Miss and received a full scholarship to the University of South Alabama where she met her husband of 34 years. After receiving her degree in psychology in 1986, she worked with children, adolescents, and adults in Alabama, California, and Texas.
She began her teaching career in 2001 as the lead teacher at Prince of Peace Catholic Community’s Blessed Beginning Preschool where she worked for 13 years. She then began to teach kindergarten at St. Anne Catholic school in Tomball. Although she is certified to teach EC-6th grade, her heart belongs to Pre-K and she has been teaching Pre-K 4 at CtRCS since 2015-16.
Linda currently lives in Tomball with her husband John, and their lab, Koda. They have two children, Kayla and Trey. Kayla graduated from Louisiana State University in 2014 and is currently working in Austin. Trey graduated from Texas State University in 2018 and works in Houston.
Linda enjoys reading, movies, concerts and theater performances, and traveling.
