“While working in a corporate job, I realized I was missing something. I was missing giving back to the community. There is no better way to give back than through children. Each time I see a face light up, I know that I made the right the decision.”
From software designer to grade-school teacher, Kelly Murphy knows exactly where her heart lies: in the classroom. A Christ the Redeemer parishioner and Religious Education catechist, Kelly said that CtR is home.
Kelly is originally from Plano, Texas and has been in Houston since 2001. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Psychology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1996. She had an impressive career working with computers as a training coordinator and later worked on new product design at Reynolds and Reynolds producing designs for software enhancements. In 2010, she traded it all in to teach. She taught 2nd grade at Stevens Elementary School in Houston Independent School District and 1st grade at St. Anne Catholic School in Tomball. She has been at CtRCS since the 2015-16 school year. She is also certified to teach English-as-a-Second-Language and a Seesaw Ambassador.
She currently lives in Cypress with her husband and two daughters. Aside from joining in with her daughters’ activities, including being the secretary for the Stonegators Swim Club Board, Kelly is a huge Houston Texans fan.
