“As a student growing up, I felt that I had great teachers because they possessed a wealth of knowledge. However, I felt that my experience was very straightforward. These teachers actually influenced my decision to teach, but I knew I wanted to be different; I wanted my classroom to be challenging and engaging at the same time. I try to create this environment for my students every day.”
After Dean Guhl spent time substituting at CtR Catholic School last year, he said he met our wonderful students and interacted with our dedicated staff. He knew that teaching at CtRCS full time would be a great fit for him.
Dean grew up on the south side of Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1982 from National Louis University. He moved to Houston in August 1986. He has worked all over Houston including Houston Independent School District, Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, and most recently, at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. While working in HISD, he received the ASPIRE award for two consecutive years. He was also named Teacher of the Year at a previous middle school.
