“My favorite thing about working in P.E./Athletics is that I have an opportunity to work directly with students to create lifelong habits that can ultimately improve not only their physical development but their spiritual growth as well. I believe physical education and sports can encourage each student to exhibit good sportsmanship, teamwork and fortitude (a gift of the Holy Spirit).”
With respect for her own coaches as a student athlete, Andrea Leach believes that sports can teach life lessons through high expectations and teamwork. She said that her focus on athletics and physical education have given her the most rewarding work experiences of her life. Already a coach at Christ the Redeemer Catholic School, the community welcomed Andrea as its first-ever Athletic Director during the 2016-2017 school year.
Andrea grew up in Houston and attended both St. Ambrose Catholic School and St. Agnes Academy as a child. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University. She received her Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences from Texas Woman’s University as well as completing a Dietetic Internship with Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Houston. Andrea has been a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist since 1996 and runs her own company called Leach Dietetic Consulting to provide computer-based menu planning services for day cares, assisted living and rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes. Andrea provided direction for the inaugural year of CtRCS Athletics (2016-17) and coached both Girls and Boys Cross Country, Co-Ed Soccer and Girls and Boys Track and Field teams. Since then she has added Girls and Boys Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Youth Sports (soccer, basketball, elementary racers and tee-ball/baseball/softball), and our most recent addition of Co-Ed Golf. Andrea will continue to coach middle school athletes and teach P.E. full time to all Pre-K-8th grade students for the 2020-21 school year.
Andrea currently lives in Willowbrook with her husband Andy. They have three children – Johnathan, a graduate of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and junior at Texas A&M University, Main Campus, Kathryn, a graduate and valedictorian of the Class of 2020 at St. Agnes Academy and freshman at Texas A&M University, Main Campus, and Sarah, a member of the first graduating class at CtRCS and a junior at St. Agnes Academy. Andrea enjoys running, fishing, and cheering on our H-Town teams Astros, Dynamo, Rockets and Texans.
