“I wanted to be a teacher since early childhood, and used to make my brother and neighbors come to class! When I realized engineering didn't give me much meaning, I knew I had to try teaching.”
Amelia (Ami) LeBas (pronounced Le bah) enjoys guiding students to find their confidence and having fun with them in the classroom. She is looking forward to the opportunity to grow with CtR Catholic School.
Ami was born in Baton Rouge, La. She received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Louisiana State University in May 2001. She interned with the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and was a teacher in Baton Rouge at the high school level.
She moved to Houston in 2017 and was a substitute teacher at St. John Paul II Catholic School while raising her two children. She was highly requested as a substitute teacher because of her natural ability to maintain a quality classroom environment and continue with teaching and learning. At CtRCS, she will teach 7th and 8th grade math, 6th grade science and 8th grade U.S. history.
She and her husband, Luke, have been married since 2004. They live in Katy and are parishioners at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. They have two children and a dog. They love to travel and spend family time together camping.
In 2021, Ami
earned certification through the National Institute for STEM Education.
