Celebrating Your Parish

Catholic schools benefit all year long from the religious guidance, prayers and support parishes provide. Our school choir, Chorus Redemptoris sang with the CtR Youth Singers at Mass. Parents handed out materials about CtR Catholic School after all Masses.

Monday, Jan. 30 - Celebrating Your Community, National Day of Service

A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. When students take part in service activities they demonstrate the values and faith gained through Catholic education. We had a Party for the Pope (1st-5th grade) and a Middle School Syrian Refugee Project. See the Facebook post!

Tuesday, Jan. 31 - Celebrating Your Students

Schools celebrate students during National Catholic Schools Week by planning enjoyable and meaningful activities for them and recognizing their accomplishments. Our 6th-7th grade had their Party for the Pope. Then we had our annual Living Rosary in the church. Parents also received a special email from teachers with pictures of their students and their work. Wednesday, Feb. 1 - Celebrating the Nation

On National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools, students, families, educators and other Catholic school supporters, we communicated the value of Catholic education to government leaders. First, we celebrated Grandparents Day with a Mass and then grandparents visits to classrooms. Our middle school wrote letters to government leaders. Our 1st-4th grade students made Catholic Schools Week (CSW) posters. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten colored the CSW national logo. See the Facebook post!

Thursday, Feb. 2 - Celebrating Vocations

By focusing on faith, knowledge and service, Catholic schools prepare children to use their God-given talents to the fullest later in life. We celebrated vocations in Houston with a visit by a religious sister and an Open House so that families can learn more about Catholic education. Also, the students had lunch with our pastor Rev. Sean Horrigan, Deacon Kerry Bourque and Deacon Jeff Willard! Vocation Director Rev. TJ Dolce joined us too! See the Facebook post!

Friday, Feb. 3 - Celebrating Faculty, Staff and Volunteers

On this day, schools honored those who work in and volunteer at the school. Our staff appreciation committee, CARE, hosted a Souper Bowl Luncheon. Also, students brought in a canned good to donate to Cypress Assistance Ministries and wore a team jersey. See the Facebook post!

Saturday, Feb. 4 - Celebrating Families

Parents, guardians and other family members play a vital role in Catholic education. Not only do they volunteer at the school, they instill values and expectations for academic excellence in their children at home. Here were some ideas to focus on family:

• Prayer for families,
• Explore and learn more about the lives of saints who are important to families: Saint Gianna, Saint Pope John Paul II, Saint Joseph, Saint Anne, Saint John Bosco, Mary - Undoer of Knots, Saint Joachim, Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Raphael,
• Invite families to attend Mass,
• Encourage families to have a family board game night,
• Research faith as it relates to your own family culture and history
• Make a spiritual tree of baptisms, marriages and ordinations
