Re-cap of Catholic Schools Week at Christ the Redeemer
Christ the Redeemer Catholic School participated in the annual Catholic Schools Week, a national week that celebrates Catholic education in the United States. Below is a recap of each day’s events during the week:
Sunday, Jan. 31: 11 a.m. Mass with Chorus Redemptoris Our school choir, Chorus Redemptoris, joined with the Christ the Redeemer Choristers to celebrate Mass with our parishioners. We also had a table set up in the narthex to pass out information about CtR Catholic School and get parishioners signed up for Steps for Students.
Monday, Feb. 1: Vocation Day The students learned all about vocations with speakers from our parish and around the Archdiocese. The panel featured a priest, sister, deacon, married couple and seminarian who discussed their commitment to the Church at their place in life. They visited each of the classrooms and had activities with the younger students and hosted a panel discussion (question and answer) for upper grades.
Tuesday, Feb. 2: Living Rosary Parents and parishioners joined the whole school for the Living Rosary. The students lined the perimeter of Christ the Redeemer, while a family led each decade of the rosary. Families also said reflections on each mystery in different languages. The older students and teachers helped the younger students follow along. It is a prayerful, reflective time for our CtRCS community.
Wednesday, Feb. 3: Grandparent’s Day Visit and Mass Grandparents Day was a blast! Our grandparents and special friends attended Mass with students, had refreshments in the Parish Hall and then took a tour of the school guided by their grandchild. The students were able to show off their work and introduce their grandparents to their teachers. As a technology-based school, students were able to scan their presentations using QR codes and show them to their grandparents as well. It was a great day to unite our community!
Thursday, Feb. 4: 10-1 p.m. Open House Our parent ambassadors stole the show for our Open House! They led interested families and parishioners around the school and shared their stories of working with the teachers and administration at CtRCS. This was especially engaging because those on the tours were able to see what a classroom experience is like firsthand.
Friday, Feb. 5: Souper Bowl Day On Souper Bowl Day, students wore their favorite team shirts and jerseys and brought cans of soup that were donated to Cypress Assistance Ministries. As a special treat in the morning we had a presentation by Seedlings International on healthy friendships and conflict resolution.
