Congratulations to CtRCS Middle School teacher
Ami LeBaswho received certification through the National Institute for STEM Education. Mrs. LeBas is the eighth and final teacher to earn this achievement among the group of educators at Christ the Redeemer Catholic School working toward the certification.
CtRCS continues to work on its certification as teachers and campus administration actively engage in professional development and training to add a nationally recognized certificate to their teaching credentials.
LeBas said achieving the certification was an important opportunity to learn more about current resources and methods used in implementing STEM into the classroom and encouraging critical thinking.
"My biggest takeaway from the program is reassurance that my constant questioning of students, no matter how much they resist, is the way to go," she said. "Some really want me to 'just tell them' how or why so they can hurry through.
"Now, I am armed with more assurance and resources for continuing to push my students to become the thinkers I know that they can be. "
She said she looks forward to providing students more opportunities to work without fear of being wrong.
"I will continue to impress upon students the importance of mistakes in learning and as a springboard to finding new approaches," LeBas said.
