Christ the Redeemer Catholic School has worked diligently, together with local health officials and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, to identify ways to keep our community safe, our campus open, while promoting an engaging social environment and robust learning opportunities.
Current Health and safety protocols are posted below. These health and safety protocols will be revisited on a regular basis with the entities mentioned above. We will notify our community of any changes to our protocols as quickly as possible. Are individuals required to wear a mask on campus?
At this time, masks are optional for students, staff and visitors. We will continue to follow CDC guidance regarding mask-wearing after illness or exposure.
Will students have to remain in their specific cohorts throughout the school day?
No, students at this time are free to move about the campus. If it is determined that COVID-19 is being spread during school hours, the use of cohorts may be implemented to help control the spread and assist with contact tracing efforts.
Where will students each lunch?
Students have an alternating lunch schedule between the Parish Hall and their classroom. Outdoor lunches are encouraged and can be utilized based on the needs of individual classes.
Are volunteers and visitors allowed on campus?
Yes, we are pleased to welcome back our wonderful Crusader Community. We ask that visitors and volunteers perform a self-assessment in accordance with our policy. Please utilize the flow chart HERE. To ensure the safety of all of our Crusaders, we ask that if you have any symptoms or have been exposed to a COVID-positive individual, please do not come on campus. All visitors are required to follow the same guidelines as our students, faculty and staff.
Is there a virtual learning environment option this year?
There is not a virtual learning option for students, including those who may have to quarantine. We have an amazing faculty who have always ensured that students who are out for extended periods of time can receive work while they are out and get caught up upon their return.
How will my child receive classwork if he/she has to quarantine?
Our teachers and staff strive to provide a healthy learning environment for our students. If your child needs to be quarantined, CtRCS will work together with individual families to provide work for students while they are out. Make-up work and instruction will be carefully coordinated between teachers, students and parents. Please allow us one to two (1 to 2) days to gather your child’s materials and school work.
Are extracurricular activities, including sports, offered this year?
Yes, we are pleased to start the 2021-22 school year offering extracurriculars.
Will students engage in off-campus field trips?
Yes, field trips will be offered in a safe way that is in accordance with our current policy to start the 2021-22 school year.
What if my child is sick, exposed, or COVID-positive?
Please refer to this detailed chart for specific information.
What measures will be in place for cleaning and sanitizing?
We will continue with our enhanced cleaning/sanitizing procedures throughout the school day. The following cleaners are used on campus: Diversey Morning Mist 5 RTD Neutral Disinfectant/Cleaner, Diversey Final Step 5 No-Rinse 512 Sanitizer, BIOESQUE Botanical Disinfectant Solution.
Are water fountains available for use?
No, students should bring a refillable water bottle to school each day. Water cooler stations will be made available to students and staff.
