TMEA is an organization of more than 12,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. Addis was enthusiastic to attend on behalf of Christ the Redeemer Catholic School.
“I had the privilege of attending TMEA in order to enrich and enhance the CtRCS Music Program,” Addis said. “I attended workshops led by the country's leading music educational professionals, conductors and professors. More than 29,000 attendees from around the world experienced the best professional development, inspiring performances, and an exhibit hall with the latest music education products and services, which I am excited to bring back and share with CtRCS!”
Wenk said she also enjoyed the conference and sharing the experience with other professionals.
“Of course, Mary Ann Addis and I are employed at CtR in music ministry and education, but we are also very fortunate to have professional musicians in the Redeemer Choir,” Wenk said. “Molly Englert, Cliff Randle, as well as Mark Veenstra
(not pictured), are
choir members who are also music teachers.”
Both Wenk and Addis were inspired by the new ideas generated about leading both youth and adult choirs.
“The convention was great,” Wenk said. “I attended a number of workshops. Being around other musicians who are excited about perfecting their craft is like a tonic that boosts my enthusiasm for my ministry. Hanging out with other CtR musicians gave us a chance to share ideas about our ministry and how we might apply some of the things we learned.”
