Christ the Redeemer Catholic School is ready to begin re-enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year. As we enter into our 7th year of Inspired Learning we are confident that it will be another productive, stimulating, and enjoyable year for your child(ren). Beginning Monday, January 13 and continuing through January 31, 2020, you may re-enroll your child(ren) for the next grade level. As we look forward to next year permit me to share with you a summary of this past year’s highlights and provide our 2020-2021 tuition rates.
First and foremost, this current school year marked an enormous accomplishment in our school’s history. After a year-long self-study, in which all members of our faculty reflected on their practices, CtRCS had a three-day campus visit hosting teachers and principals from across the Archdiocese who served as part of our Visiting Accrediting Team. Our accreditation visit was a huge success and we passed with flying colors. We heard repeatedly from the accreditation team of how impressed they were with our curriculum, faculty and student engagement, parish involvement, and how our Catholic identity was at the heart of everything we do. We have every right to be proud (in a good way) of how well CtRCS is thought of in the Archdiocese.
The 2018-2019 school year saw our 2nd graduating class. Every student who applied to private schools, including Frassati Catholic High School, Incarnate Word Academy, St Agnes Academy, St. John XXIII, St. Thomas High School, St. Pius, and Houston Christian was accepted into all of the schools they chose. We’re very proud that more than half of our graduates went on to Catholic high schools and the others are doing great things at the local public schools.
Our Middle School students also saw an increase of focused instructional time in English Language Arts. We added an 8th period for our students, providing them with increased minutes in ELA by separating Literature from Language Arts. We adopted Simple Solutions in grades 3-8 as a supplement to our primary Math curriculum resource, and have adopted the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills as our curriculum standards. Our standardized test scores continue to grow, bringing us closer to be in a position to apply for Blue Ribbon status. Between our STAR360 and IOWA scores, we have met or exceeded the minimum required scores in Math for grades 3-8. In Reading, we have met or exceeded the minimum required scores in grades 4 and 8, and are seeing continuous growth in all areas. Let’s keep up the good work!
Three of our teachers became ACET teachers for the Archdiocese, piloting the first-ever "Teacher Pop-In" program and serving as mentor teachers for others. Teachers attended numerous professional development opportunities both on and off campus and increased their knowledge-base and expertise in their subject areas. Like our teachers, our students are also making a name for themselves. Fifty percent of our students in grades 4-7 were nominated for the DUKE Tips program, and an equally impressive number are currently being nominated for DECATS.
Our athletics program is growing as well! Currently, 90 percent of our Middle School students are involved in athletics. This year we have filled multiple teams in basketball, volleyball, cross country, soccer, track and field, and golf. Not only did our rosters grow, but our success in these respective sports continues to reach great heights. Out of roughly 200 runners, the top male and female runners both came from our CtRCS. Our Varsity soccer team made it to the quarterfinals and our Junior Varsity won its first tournament. The 2018-19 school year also saw the debut of our new Redeemer Activity Center with its first-class facilities that are unmatched in the Archdiocese, and this past September we also dedicated our Home Field behind the RAC, another milestone for our blossoming athletics program.
Besides being amazing athletes, Crusaders are becoming leaders and critical thinkers through their participation in our growing co-curricular programming. This year we continue to offer a variety of opportunities for learning and leading outside the classrooms. Crusaders are members of a variety of clubs and organizations including Chess Club, Coder Kids, Drama Club, Choir, Liturgical Servers and our brand new Eucharistic Adoration Club. Finally, our Student Council continues to develop leadership and volunteerism through their incredible example.
This January marks the beginning of our school-wide STEM certification process through the National Institute for Stem Certification. This 12-month process certifies the campus and, at a minimum, five teachers across various grade levels and content areas will be ‘STEM’ certified. This process will be completed in December 2020. Next year, we are also looking forward to adding the National Junior Honor Society to our extracurricular activities.
As you can see, each and every day our students, faculty, staff and administration are striving to live out the purpose of Christ the Redeemer Catholic School in which we foster academic excellence with a love of God and neighbor that inspires and challenges our children to become leaders who proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and action.
None of these accomplishments are possible without the loving and dedicated support of you, our Crusader families. Your continued gifts of time, talent and treasure are true gifts. These gifts of stewardship are what bring to life the purpose of Christ the Redeemer Catholic School.
It is with great hope that we look towards our continued growth at CtRCS because of the strong foundation we have built over the past six years. For the past few months, Fr. Sean Horrigan, our pastor, the CtRCS Board of Directors, and myself have met to envision and prayerfully plan what that future will hold, and in doing so, we have discerned carefully our tuition rates for the 2020-2021 school year. We have sought to balance the need to provide excellence in academics, retain and recruit qualified and caring faculty, and maintain our facilities and programs while also being good stewards of your tuition dollars.
To achieve that end, our tuition rates for the 2020-2021 school year will be as follows:
This increase over the previous year was determined in order to ensure your child(ren) an excellent Catholic education, continue to grow our programs, provide competitive teacher salaries and health care benefits (including an increase in insurance premiums that was mandated for all Archdiocesan teachers and employees), and obtain resources for academics, athletics, and spiritual life. We take all tuition adjustments seriously and we are always grateful for the sacrifices you make to provide your child(ren) a Catholic education. We hope you will agree that a CtRCS education is a great value and an even greater blessing for your family.
Once again please make special note that our current family re-enrollment period opens on Monday, January 13 and closes on Friday, January 31. After January 31 we cannot hold your child’s spot for the upcoming school year and enrollment at that time will be on a space-available basis. Early registration and enrollment help us make decisions about classes, staffing, and resources. On Monday, January 13 you will be receiving an email via RenWeb with requirements and step-by-step instructions on how to re-enroll your child(ren).
Please accept our thanks and gratitude for your continued support of our school and its educational endeavors. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach me via email: [email protected].
