Each year, Catholic grade schools throughout the Archdiocese have the opportunity to nominate student for the DeBusk Enrichment Center for Academically Talented Scholars, better know as DECATS.
DECATS offers a unique opportunity for high-ability students in grades 3rd - 6th to participate in an intensive three-week summer adventure of challenging and enriching coursework, nurturing the whole learner and fostering the leaders of tomorrow. The program provides an enriched learning environment for students who demonstrate high intellectual ability, a strong commitment to learning and exceptional creativity.
We are proud to announce that 40 percent of our 3rd-6th graders qualified for DECATS this summer. Students qualify by scoring at or above the 95 percentile in one or more sub-tests on the IOWA. This was based on last years IOWA scores (or if a child has just joined us this year, an equivalent standardized test from his/her previous school).
While we understand that standardized tests are just one measure of a child's ability, we are very proud of our Crusaders. Parents of qualifying student will get a letter from DECATS in mid January.
