Congratulations to fourth-grade teacher Gloria Bowring who received certification through the National Institute for STEM Education. Mrs. Bowring is the seventh teacher to earn this achievement among the group of educators at Christ the Redeemer Catholic School working toward the certification.
CtRCS continues to work on its certification as teachers and campus administration actively engage in professional development and training to add a nationally recognized certificate to their teaching credentials.
"As a lifelong learner, I’m always looking for ways to enhance and grow my skills," Bowring said. "I particularly wanted to learn ways to implement STEM teaching in an English language arts classroom."
Bowring said her biggest takeaway from the program is how a STREAM-focused approach to teaching affects curriculum design, lesson implementation, and student assessment.
Providing a learning environment that fosters student-driven discovery and questioning in the classroom is essential for critical thinking development, she said.
