3rd Grade Goes Back in Time with Pioneer Day

On May 22, we had our annual 3rd grade pioneer day! We have this day at the conclusion of reading "Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingalls Wilder to make the novel come to life for the students. We make rag dolls, a cup and ball game, and covered wagons. We play jacks, have potato sack races, and have hoop races. We eat pioneer food and dig for "gold." The highlight of our day is dancing the Virginia Reel for our parents!
